John Snyder, formerly of Cumberland, Md., will be signing his Christmas book, “The Golden Ring,” Monday Nov.27, form 5 to 9 p.m. at Borders Books & Music, 17636 Garland Groh Blvd. in Hagerstown. The book grew out of a conversation Snyder had with his 89-year-old grandmother, Anna Snyder, about one of her childhood Christmas memories.
The story is set in Meyersdale, Pa., and Brunswick, Md. It focuses on a special Christmas in the Beal household – a close knit family consisting of Anna, her parents and her five brothers and sisters. Anna’s close relationship with her father, Joseph, an engineer on the B&O Railroad, grows closer as they share a series of puzzling dreams that emphasize the giving and receiving of a ring. Their search for the meaning of these dreams leads them to share an emotional Christmas experience that lives deep within Anna’s heart for the next 80 years.
